Milton October 2022 works

As part of Urban&Civic’s commitment to invest in local infrastructure to support the new development coming forward on the former Barracks site in Waterbeach, further improvement works are planned to upgrade the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure on Cambridge Road, Milton. These works finish the agreed works undertaken earlier this year.

The works will require traffic management to be in place on Cambridge Road for 24 hours a day for a two-week period between 7th November 2022 and 30th November 2022. Three and four way traffic lights will be in place and will be manned 7 days a week, from 9am-5pm. The traffic management must remain in place continuously as full depth reconstruction requires excavations to stay open outside of working hours.

The works will deliver an improved, safer route for cyclists and pedestrians along Cambridge Road and will connect with the expanded pathway on the A10. They include:

  • The construction of a new raised, uncontrolled crossing point at Barnabas Court junction along with the provision of new drainage gullies
  • New delineations between kerbs and entrances to Jaws Fish&Chips, Unicorn House and Godden Auto Services to create separation from the carriageway
  • New tactile paving at Winship and Coles Road junctions
  • Refreshment of various road markings along the High Street, including additional ‘cyclist’ symbols to highlight cycle lane

We apologise in advance for any disruption caused by these works. We have and will continue to make every effort to minimise the impact of the works. Our partners Breheny Civil Engineering have also placed the relevant signage in place along the highway in advance of the programme starting.

If you become aware of any issues regarding the works please contact the Breheny out of hours team on 07732 316 937.
