A new community
The first phase of Waterbeach includes a primary school, a travel hub, and a community centre with interim health centre. Ahead of a new permanent convenience store, Brew and Basket, a smaller shop, café, and community hub is located just by the Travel Hub at the gateway to the development.
1600 homes in the first phase range from 1-2 bedroom apartments to 2-5 bedroom homes. These are for sale, for shared ownership, and for rent through housing association partners. Explore homes currently available at Waterbeach.
The first phase also includes play areas such as Wild Woods and a walking loop around the lake; a fitness area using the former assault course run by The Playground; a sports hall and studio with tennis courts, which has a wide range of activities every day of the week; squash courts and a military heritage museum.
Heritage at heart
A range of the site’s military heritage areas support new residents and the surrounding villages, including the sports hall and Terraces, which host a monthly Waterbeach Community Market. The Summer at the Beach Festival takes over parts of the former Barracks area each Autumn for art events, exhibitions and activities.
Getting around
The Travel Hub provides connections for the regular Bus Service, which runs from Cambridge Research Park through the New Town to Waterbeach station and on to Cambridge, as well as bike hire, EV Charging, and a Car Club service. A convenient parcel pick-up service is also located here.
The first homes at Waterbeach are supported by the established Community Primary School in Waterbeach Village, while the first on-site school, Deneia Primary Academy is delivered.
