Schools
Schools at Waterbeach
Schools are a fundamental part of the new community, and have been designed in to an overall masterplan, to come forward within each phase as the development grows.
The development will include 3 primary schools, a secondary school.
Land has been set aside for a special needs school, if it’s needed.
Each primary school will also support Early Years provision, with some independent nurseries also coming forward to meet growing need
Primary schools
The first phase of homes is being supported by the existing Community primary school in Waterbeach Village. Designs are progressing for the first primary school on site – Deneia Primary Academy. The school has been specially designed to nestle into the woodland areas within the first phase, and provide a car-free environment to enable a stress free walk, cycle or scoot to school.
Run by Anglian Learning Trust, the school will eventually grow from one to three forms of entry, and will include wraparound cover. It will also be home to an Early Years provision. You can find out more about the school by contacting enquiries@deneiaprimary.org or contacting the Communities Team on hello@waterbeach.co.uk
The next Primary schools will be timed as each phase of the development rolls out, with an Education Review Group with the local education authority overseeing the timing and delivery of schools to ensure they come forward as needed.

Secondary Schools
The secondary school will come forward later in the first phase of the development as the school needs enough children to ensure appropriate classes and a rounded curriculum for all.
Currently the development sits within the catchment for the successful and popular Cottenham Village College, which is a short bus ride away. Buses for the school stop at the Transport Hub to allow for an easy connection for children to and from the school The team continue to work closely with the leadership team at Cottenham and the County Council Education Team to confirm the timing of the secondary school.
You can find out more about the school through their website at astreacottenham.org.
The development is also close to Impington Village College and a range of independent schools within Cambridge and Ely, including Kings Ely, Perse School Cambridge and The Leys School.
Early Years Provision
Waterbeach is home to Heron’s Pre-school, which has recently secured Outstanding Ofsted rating. The Pre-school sits at the southern gateway of the development, serving both the village and the new community.
Deneia Primary Academy will also be launching an Early Years Provision within the first primary school.
A range of other Early Years settings are also available locally. Further details are available from the communities team by contacting hello@waterbeachwb.co.uk
