Waterbeach Heritage Day

War medals pinned on a man's jacket breast

Waterbeach has a rich history shaped by the people living and working here for centuries. This is reflected in the landscape and preserved features, and in the many physical and emotional connections it has with the communities that surround it. The new development draws inspiration from this unique heritage and continues to be inspired by the stories shared by the community, ongoing research and archaeological investigations.

The Waterbeach team is hosting an event for residents and the local community to delve into the past and share some of its heritage highlights.

This will include:

  • Displays showing the history of the site and some of the archeological findings and artefacts.
  • A quiz to help you discover more about the development’s past.
  • Artefacts and information from Denny Abbey and Farmland Museum, as well as a hands-on pottery reconstruction activity.
  • Information and activities from Tithe Barn Landbeach

Waterbeach Military Heritage Museum will also be open, with Duxford Radio Trust’s interactive display available to try out Morse Coding. Visitors will also be able to activate the Cold War warning alarm and discover more about the Royal Airforce and Royal Engineers stationed here during World War II and the Cold War.

Display of military vehicles by local enthusiasts will also be at the Denny End Road entrance.
