Over 40 stalls selling a wide variety of local produce were joined by an art exhibition with children’s drawing table, bell ringers from Landbeach Church, Purple Angels singers, bike servicing from smart journeys and Christmas haircuts from Waterbeach Barbers.
Housebuilders Stonebond and Cala attended the market with information about the new homes available at Waterbeach. As well as festive cookies and cakes, they also showed potential buyers around their show homes.
Visitors were also encouraged to wrap up warm and take a wonder around the lake loop to discover the Christmas message spelt out on festive images around the route.
To help people travel more sustainably and leave their cars at home, a free shuttle bus service ran between the village and the new development, taking people to the market, the lake loop and the show homes.
Fiona Reardon-Rose, Communities and Partnerships for Waterbeach, said: “There was a real buzz around the Christmas Community Market, with more people attending than ever before. The bell ringers and festive singers added to the atmosphere, putting everyone in the Christmas mood. The shuttle bus was also really well received, and we’ll look into running this at future markets in the New Year.
“A personal highlight for me was seeing so many people enjoying the lake loop and looking around the show homes. It was fantastic to see people getting a taste of what it would be like to live at Waterbeach!”
