As well as donating food and toiletries in excess of £1,000, the team is looking at ways to provide practical help with additional shelving for the local branch of the Foodbank in Waterbeach Baptist Church. This will make it easier to stock and process the wide variety of products needed to support local families in need.
Rebecca Britton, Communities and Partnerships at Urban&Civic, said: “Whilst Christmas is a joyous time for many it can also bring challenges, and we wanted to provide support to those in need in the local area during the festive period. We are thrilled that our partners at Stonebond Properties will be providing skilled contractors to provide additional storage at Waterbeach Baptist Church, and so pleased at the generosity and support from Breheny, ECL and Ground Control that we have collected so much in donations for the Foodbank.”
Food donations are vital to help give everyone referred to the Foodbank a balanced and nutritious three-day supply of food. Current shortages include biscuits, coffee, fruit squash (1 litre), rice, long life milk and juice, tinned goods (fruit, tomatoes and meat), rice pudding, custard, toilet rolls (4 pack), laundry and cleaning products, men’s deodorant and shower gel.
If you can help, please drop off your donations at Waterbeach Baptist Church on Thursday evenings. To find out more about donating and volunteering, visit ely.foodbank.org.uk
