Free taster sessions and demonstrations were available throughout the event for all ages and abilities, from baby gym to circus skills and jazzercise to low impact activities for over 50s. One of the most popular activities was archery, with children and adults lined up to try their skills at target shooting.
Some attendees also braved the cold and water hazards of The Playground’s assault course to test their speed and stamina over the refurbished military obstacles that, alongside a range of new ones, forms a 1km course.
In addition, local organisers showcased a range of activities to support mental and physical health and fitness including Slimming World, Living Sport, Inspire Gym,
Milton Country Park and Fit 4 Life. Information was also available on groups such as Sing Mama’s Choir, Rugby Tots, Tennis 4 Tots, Pickleball and Walking Football.
XS Latin attended to introduce the community to Latin American formation dancing, with the UK championship team practicing in the Sports Hall each week. Landbeach
Bellringers also came along to share their expertise and inspire future campanologists.
Coinciding with the popular monthly Waterbeach Community Market, attendees enjoyed tasty snack and beverages between activities and stocked up on local produce before heading home.
Caroline Ward, Community Development Lead for Waterbeach, said: “With over 40 weekly sports and fitness sessions taking place in the six refurbished community spaces at the development, Waterbeach residents and the surrounding community have a wealth of opportunities to stay physically and mentally fit. We also have some great new activities starting in 2025 including archery, baby gym and Sing Mama’s choir.”
